Leitrim Landscapes   guided walks

Guides from Leitrim Landscapes Guided Walks   will point out the flora and fauna of interest, local archaeology and the edible plants and herbs around about and   even a foraging taster session afterwards! Suitable for the not so fit,   walk will last 1.5 hours and will be slow pace.

We’ve been contacted by a casting agency (Kahleen Crawford Casting) to help them in their search for local women to be extras and maybe more in a feature film due to be filmed here in the summer.. see the message below sent by Kahleen for more information.

If you interested come along, we could all be headed for Hollywood this time next year…

FEATURE FILM CASTING

We are looking for people to be involved in a feature film shooting in Counties Leitrim and Sligo from mid-August-early October this year. The film is being made by a reputable company, Sixteen Films, whose previous projects include the film The Wind that Shakes The Barley.

We will need people from 16-70+ as extras, and some small speaking roles. No experience of filming is necessary! The film centres on a community and we are keen to find all the people who will build up that community locally. We will be needing a number of women, and will be at the North Leitrim Women’s Centre on Thursday 25th April at 6pm to chat to anyone who is interested to hear more. We will be filling everyone in on what we’re doing and what we are looking for, and then taking details from anyone who is interested in potentially being involved (not an audition! We are just taking contact info and a quick photo). There’s no obligation to stay and give us your details if you decide it’s not for you!

Whilst we recommend coming along to meet us in person if at all possible, if you’re unable to make it on Thursday evening, you can send an email entitled NORTH LEITRIM WOMEN’S CENTRE to ireland@kahleencrawford.com (please note no ‘t’ in Kahleen) and we will send you a casting form that you can complete and send back with some recent pictures.

 The Women’s Centre are now recruiting for our last ilm Endorsed Award ‘Women Leading the Way’ Programme. This course has been extremely popular and feedback from those women that have taken part has been brilliant, it’s really got people enthusiastic and fired up about getting involved and getting active in their local community and beyond. It’s been described as “a wonderful empowering, motivating experience”…. so come along and find the ‘leader’ in you!

 The is designed to build women’s skills and confidence and encourage and support them to get more involved in the local community and maybe even take on  a leadership roles in their communities. Modules include – Leadership in Community, Intro to Political skills and Europe, Building Community, Public Communication skills. Upon completion of the course participants will achieve the ilm endorsed Award Certificate in ‘Women Leading the Way’.

 The course is interactive and interesting while at the same time building ‘community and self-awareness’, it runs over 4 days (10am-3pm) on the following dates and is delivered by Martina Gilmartin and will include a guest speaker who will talk about their own personal experience in leadership and decision making.
